My Past

Hello, Internet! You’re reading a note which has traveled through time, into the future. It did so slowly, at the rate of one second per second, but I just knew it would make it all the way to today. I wrote this page after graduating from UF with a B.A. in History of Science.

These last four years have been eventful. Under Dr. R.A. Hatch, I learned how to research thoroughly and write descriptively. Matt, Jason, Jared, and Nicole taught me to juggle and entertain a crowd. In my sophomore year I took over OIM, the UF Juggling club, and tripled its membership within three years. My friend Warren and I co-founded Sophosessions in 2007, an academic social group whose members took turns presenting their research and far-reaching interests. I learned more from these groups than even my most intensive school courses.

Even the smallest town can present enormous opportunities, if you let it, and I like to think that I sucked out all the marrow of life that I could in Gainesville. Within its county limits, I canoed to the naked hermit who guards the Santa Fe river, studied with some of the best professors around, worked (briefly) for the coolest librarians this side of the Mississippi, barely escaped from discontented alligators, hiked with a herd of bison, and juggled in every nook and cranny Gainesville could offer. And every new person I met was more interesting than the last.
